Masjid Jamia – Busunju, Mityana District
Masjid Jamia is a newly built mosque located in Busunju, Mityana District, Uganda. The mosque was established to provide a safe, spacious, and permanent place of worship for the growing Muslim community in the area.
The main prayer hall can accommodate approximately 850 worshippers at a time. During major occasions such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, when the number of worshippers increases significantly, the rooftop can be used to accommodate approximately 1,000 additional worshippers. This makes Masjid Jamia one of the largest mosques in the Mityana District and an important place of worship for Muslims from Busunju and surrounding communities.
The mosque is more than just a place for the five daily prayers. It has been designed to serve the wider Muslim community. The compound includes a dedicated house for the Imam, providing accommodation for the person responsible for leading prayers, teaching the Qur’an, and supporting the religious needs of the community.
Masjid Jamia also has a dedicated facility for washing and preparing the deceased according to Islamic traditions. This provides an important service to the community, especially during times of bereavement, when families need a proper and dignified place to prepare their loved ones for burial.
The mosque compound is spacious enough to accommodate approximately 1,500 people, making it suitable for large religious gatherings, Eid prayers, Qur’an programs, Islamic lectures, community meetings, and other important activities.
Masjid Jamia is therefore not simply a building for prayer. It is intended to be a center of worship, learning, community support, and Islamic service for the people of Busunju and the surrounding areas. Its construction represents an important investment in the future of the Muslim community and provides a lasting place where people can worship Allah, learn the Qur’an, teach future generations, and come together as one community.
We pray that Allah accepts everyone who contributed to the construction of Masjid Jamia, rewards them abundantly, and makes this mosque a source of continuous reward (Sadaqah Jariyah) for everyone who supported its establishment.
